Carlo Ranzoni

Carlo Ranzoni (born November 2, 1965 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss lawyer and, as a representative of Liechtenstein, a judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Ranzoni studied law at the University of St. Gallen from 1985 until his graduation in 1989 . In 1992 he passed his lawyer exams in St. Gallen and then worked as a clerk at the Cantonal Court of St. Gallen. In 2001, following a request from the Liechtenstein Ministry of Justice, he moved to the Princely Regional Court in Vaduz. There he worked as a judge until 2015 and worked in an advisory capacity on numerous legislative projects. From 2011 he was head of the Liechtenstein specialist group against the sexual abuse of children and adolescents. He also worked as a representative of Liechtenstein on the Council of Europe committee on issues relating to the protection of children against sexual abuse and on other committees. So he worked on the Lanzarote Convention . In April 2015, Ranzoni was elected to succeed Mark Villiger as a representative of Liechtenstein as judge at the European Court of Human Rights . He took office on September 1, 2015; his term of office is expected to last until August 2024.
