Artistic practice

Carlo Schmidt dealt with climate change as early as the 1980s . So he created “zero energy art” by making art from the products in the shops and then dismantling them after the exhibition and putting them on the shelves, that is, back into the cycle.

The environment, social and economic injustices, ethics and morals are central themes in his work. Carlo Schmidt is involved with creative input in many non-profit sociocultural institutions such as in the education sector.

Schmidt uses ubiquitous consumables such as adhesive tape, wooden boards, sheets of paper, wire or cardboard in his works.
