Honegger was a representative of constructive - concrete art. He has been creating sculptures and works for public spaces since the mid-1960s. This includes, for example, the installation Culur from 1997. It consists of nine metal columns in the rainbow colors on the flood protection wall near Orden / Maloja, a tenth column is at the Salecina Education and Holiday Center . Honegger said of this work: “For me, the work here in Maloja is something like a symbiosis between the beautiful, the loving in oneself and the effort to offer our eyes something that stimulates thought, that obliges us to community. The dialogue between a mighty nature, a useful technique and the spiritual of art seems to me to have entered into an ideal connection. "

Other of his works in public space are among others at the ETH Zurich ( Volume 18 , 1968, and Structure 28 , 1970), in Vaduz ( Division , 1989, and Monoform 29 , 1991), on a traffic circle in Bad Ragaz ( Etude Pliage , 1999), in the Heidelberg Sculpture Park ( Gelben Pliage C115 , 2001) and on a traffic roundabout in Hohenems (2005).

In 1987 Honegger co-founded the “Foundation for Constructive and Concrete Art Zurich”. Together with Sybil Albers-Barrier (1935–2019) he founded the Espace de l'Art Concret (space of concrete art) in Mouans-Sartoux on the French Côte d'Azur in 1990, and in 1997 he set up the children's atelier Art, Recherche, Imagination (Art, research, imagination) . For the Donation Albers-Honegger donation , the architects Gigon and Guyer created a museum building called Espace de l'Art Concret, which was inaugurated in 2004 .

For St. Paul's Cathedral in Liège , Honegger designed eighteen upper windows for the central and transepts. The windows were made as a glass mosaic with a copper frame in Gabriel Loire's studio in Chartres and installed in the church in 2013 and 2014.
