Gigon / Guyer

Gigon / Guyer is a Swiss architecture firm based in Zurich. The office is owned by the architects Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer, who have held a chair for architecture and construction at the ETH Zurich since 2012 .

  • Annette Gigon (born May 24, 1959 in Herisau , Switzerland) completed her architecture diploma in 1984 at the ETH and then worked in the offices of Marbach and Rüegg and from 1985–1988 Herzog & de Meuron . From 1987 she had her own office. Gigon is a member of the BSA and, since 2003, of the Berlin Academy of the Arts . She held guest lectureships from 2001–2002 at EPF Lausanne and in 2008 at ETH Zurich. Since 2012 she has been a full professor for architecture and construction at the ETH Zurich.
  • Mike Guyer (born July 5, 1958 in Columbus , Ohio, USA) worked for Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam from 1984–1987 after graduating from ETH Zurich . Since 1987, again in Zurich, he has been running his own office alongside a position as a research assistant to Hans Kollhoff . Also a member of the Association of Swiss Architects , he taught as a guest lecturer at EPF Lausanne in 2002 and at ETH in 2009. Since 2012 he has been a full professor for architecture and construction at the ETH Zurich. Mike Guyer is the son of the architect couple Esther and Rudolf Guyer .

The office's buildings are internationally acclaimed and are widely published. Gigon / Guyer have established an international reputation for themselves in museum construction in particular with buildings such as the Museum Liner, the Kalkriese Archaeological Park and the Kirchner Museum in Davos.
