action

The brothers Necati, Hasan and Mehment went to Russia to pick up the coffin with the remains of an old family friend who is to be buried at home. Your fellow travelers on the bus from Batumi to Istanbul are exclusively women, provided they cross the border: They hope to earn enough as prostitutes in Turkey to enable their families or themselves to have a better life. During the long drive, you get closer to each other while drinking, singing and telling stories until business is forgotten.

criticism

The lexicon of international films meant: Turkish road movie that opposes blanket prejudices and paints a colorful picture of the travel company thanks to its patchwork-like structure. Dramaturgically, the film does not get beyond its long exposure and sweeps its subtle realism aside with the melodramatic ending.

background

  • For the role of Necati, which was initially determined by Kemal Sunal , after his death Uğur Yücel occupied the role.
