Career

Career start at CD Motagua

Born in the United States, Cruz, who has both the US nationality and that of his ancestors' homeland due to his country of birth, joined the youth department of the CD Olimpia Tegucigalpa as a youngster. After the U-17 World Cup in South Korea, he left the club and moved to city rivals CD Motagua. After he had gone through various youth leagues of the club, he came from the Clausura of the season 2008/09 to his first assignments for the professional team in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras. He made his professional debut on February 25, 2009, when he was on the pitch in the 3: 4 away defeat against CD Platense and scored the 1-0 opening goal for his team in the fifth minute of the game. Another short Apertura assignment followed before he finished the season with the team in eighth place in the table. Cruz came to only one use in the following season of the Apertura, the 2009/10 season, in which he failed with the team again in the semifinals, this time against CD Olimpia .

In the Clausura 2010, Cruz completed three short appearances for Motagua, which was in first place in the final table. In the subsequent final round, the team only lost in the final against CD Olimpia, which was able to win the title for the 23rd time. In the aggregation table, CD Motagua was in first place at the end of the season. Due to the lack of match practice, Cruz was rarely used in the professional team. He played in just nine games through the summer of 2011, scoring one goal before leaving the club.

International

In 2007, Cruz was first appointed by Miguel Escalante in Honduras' U-17 national team. With the team he took part in the U-17 World Cup in South Korea in 2007 and came there in a group game against the U-17 national team of Syria, when he played in the 87th minute for Ronald Martínez , with whom he also plays at Motagua, came onto the lawn of the Jeju World Cup stadium . With the team, he retired in the group stage as the last in Group C from the current tournament. Overall, he came in his only year in the U-17 national team on two international appearances, in which he remained goalless, however.
