Carlos Ballesteros (born December 31, 1935 in Saragossa , † September 4, 2011 in Móstoles ) was a Spanish actor and theater director .

Life

Ballesteros was involved in student theater productions during his studies in philosophy and humanities (“Filosofia y Letras”) and was on stage in 1957 with Six People Looking for an Author and the following year in Mambrú se fue en guerra . In 1959 he met Carlos Tamayo , whose theater company "Lope de Vega" he joined and in the following years matured into one of Spain's outstanding stage actors. Until the 1970s he played in countless plays under all the important directors of the time. Occasionally Ballesteros also staged himself.

From the mid-1980s it became more difficult for Ballesteros to find suitable roles because he was now too old for heroes and young lovers; in the 1990s, performances of The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Todas las primaveras again attracted a lot of attention.

Since the early 1960s, Ballesteros was also seen in television series and films; Occasionally he also accepted offers for feature films.

Until his death he directed the "Escuela Municipal de Teatro Clásico de Navalcarnero".
