Carlos Barea

Carlos Barea (born December 18, 1954 in Punta Carretas , Montevideo , Uruguay) is a Uruguayan artist and lecturer.

Barea studied with Nelson Ramos in 1977 , and in 1980 he joined the Octaedro group . He has a teaching position at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes (ENBA). His works are the subject of private collections and museums on a national and international level. These include the Montevidean Museo del Gaucho y la Moneda , the Museo de Arte Americano in Maldonado , the Museo de Salto , the Museo de San José as well as the Banco Central art gallery , the Colección Engelman Ost and the Deutsche Bank .

For Barea there are numerous participations in group exhibitions on a national and international level. In 1995, for example, at the invitation of the Spanish Embassy, ​​he took part in the exhibition in honor of Onetti in the Subte Municipal in Montevideo. From 1977 to 1995 he also held 13 solo exhibitions, one each in Argentina and the USA.

Barea has also received numerous awards. He received awards in drawing from the Automóvil Club de Uruguay (1982) and the Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay (1986) and in 1985 the First Prize of the Salón Municipal de San José . In 1986 he decided to forego further participation in the competition.
