Carlos Barra (born November 6, 1968 in Entabladero, Veracruz ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield and started working as a soccer coach after his active career.

career

Barra began his professional career with the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , who had returned to the Primera División for the 1989/90 season after ten years of abstinence . In this first season after their return, the enthusiasm for football in the port city of Veracruz was enormous and all 19 home games of the Tiburones Rojos were completely sold out. With the exception of the 1994/95 season, which he spent in the service of Monarcas Morelia , Barra was under contract with the Tiburones Rojos until the summer of 1996, made 161 first division appearances for them and scored five goals.

In 1996 Barra moved to Club Deportivo Social y Cultural Cruz Azul , with whom he won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup twice, as well as the championship title and the cup competition once , in 1996 and 1997 .

After his active career Barra worked in the coaching staff of his former club Tiburones Rojos and looked after the team on February 17, 2007 as interim coach in the home game against Club San Luis , which was won 2-1.

Barra had a long-term position as head coach in 2014 and 2015 at CF Monterrey .
