Carlos Blanco Castañón (born March 5, 1928 in Madrid , Spain - according to some sources, born in 1927; † January 9, 2011 ) was a Mexican football player who acted on the offensive .

biography

society

Blanco began his professional career in the Mexican Primera División in 1945 in the service of CF Asturias . When Asturias retired from professional football in 1950 and Club Necaxa assumed professional status, Blanco moved to this club, where he initially played until at least 1952. Before, during or after the 1952/53 season, Blanco moved to the former military sports club Marte , with which he was champion in 1953/54. After winning the title, the championship team fell apart due to the club's financial problems and Blanco initially returned to Club Necaxa before ending his active career at Deportivo Toluca .

National team

The native of Spain made his debut in the Mexican national team on March 23, 1952 in a game against Uruguay, which was lost 3-1.

The highlights of his national team career were his participation in the soccer world championships in 1954 and 1958 . While Blanco did not get beyond the role of a reservist in 1954, he played two Mexican games in 1958: his first appearance was against Wales on June 11, 1958, which was a special game for Mexican football; because it was here that the national team, which was previously only used to defeats, scored their first point win (1-1) at a soccer world championship . His second World Cup game against Hungary (0: 4) four days later was also his last appearance in the ranks of the national team.
