Carlos Calero Rodrigues

Carlos Calero Rodrigues (born 1919 in Leblon , † December 22, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Carlos Calero Rodrigues was a son of Spanish immigrants and spent his childhood in the Bairro Méier Rio de Janeiro .

In 1945 he entered the foreign service and was assigned to the Consulate General in Montreal . From 1947 to 1950 he was employed at the Embassy in Washington, DC . From 1956 to 1962 and from 1964 to 1967 he was employed at the embassy in Paris . In 1963 he was employed at the embassy in Warsaw . From 1979 to 1984 he was the representative of the Brazilian embassy at the UN headquarters . There he was a member of the Commission for Human Rights of the United Nations, which he chaired in 1981. From 1978 to 1982 he headed the Brazilian delegation to the United Nations Third Conference on the Law of the Sea ( law of the sea ). From 1984 to 1985 he was general secretary of the Itamaraty in this office he took from June 6, 1984 to February 8, 1985 the function of the acting foreign minister.
