Carlos Gurpegui Nausia (also Carlos Gurpegi Nausia ; born September 19, 1980 in Pamplona ) is a former Spanish football player .

Career

Carlos Gurpegui was positive for the on 1 September 2002 Doping -means nandrolone tested . The resulting two-year suspension was suspended several times as the athlete and his club appealed on the grounds that the substance nandrolone was naturally produced by the footballer's body under stress, a claim that has been rejected as ridiculous by most experts. The ban became legally effective in April 2006, so Gurpegui had to pause until April 2008. The support Gurpegui received from his Club Athletic Bilbao is remarkable . He was never removed from the squad or his contract terminated. For the whole two years he was listed with his number as an official player in the club squad.

Gurpegui also gained involuntary notoriety during an away game at FC Barcelona , in which he was humiliated by Ronaldinho when he lifted the ball three times over his head without it touching the ground. But he managed to hit the 1-1 final score shortly before the end.

Gurpegui ended his career after the 2015/16 season.
