Carlos Mencia

Ned Arnel "Carlos" Mencía (born October 22, 1967 in San Pedro Sula , Honduras ) is an American comedian and actor.

Life

Carlos Mencia was born the seventeenth of eighteen children of a Mexican and a Honduran, among others of German and English descent. He grew up in a strict Roman Catholic upbringing in south Los Angeles and was partly raised by his aunt and uncle. After graduating from Garfield High School , he began studying electrical engineering at California State University, Los Angeles , which he gave up in favor of a comic career. He managed to get booked for renowned nightclubs such as Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store .

Mencia was soon booked for television appearances, including The Arsenio Hall Show and Loco Slam on HBO . Together with Freddy Soto and Pablo Francisco he toured the country in 2001 with the program The Three Amigos . From 2005 to 2008 Mencia had her own television show called Mind of Mencia on the American television station Comedy Central .

Mencia lives near Los Angeles with his wife Amy and their son.
