Carlos De Pena , full name Carlos María De Pena Bonino , (born March 11, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.77 meter tall midfielder De Pena was a member of the youth team Nacional Montevideos at least 2011 . With this he went to the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 that year and played four games (no goal) in this competition. He has been in the first division of the "Bolsos" since the 2012/13 season. That season he ran six times in the Primera División and scored one goal. He was also used in four games (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2013 . In the 2013/14 season, 24 top division games (three goals) followed with his participation. There are also six completed games (two goals) of the 2014 Copa Libertadores for him. In the 2014/15 season he won the national championship title with Nacional and was used 26 times (nine goals) in the top Uruguayan league and twice (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2015 . After playing two more top division games (two goals) in Apertura 2015 and three games (no goal) in Copa Sudamericana 2015 , English club Middlesbrough FC announced their commitment on September 1, 2015 . With the English he received a three-year contract. The donating club Nacional Montevideo had already sold 50 percent of the transfer rights to Grupo Casal for 1.5 million dollars in November 2014 and, according to press reports, now received more than two million dollars from the English club in the course of the transfer business. For the English club he played six league games (no goal) in the 2015/16 season . He was also used three times (no goal) in the League Cup and once (no goal) in the FA Cup .
