The Carlssonbucht (alternatively: John Carlssonbucht [sic]) is a 4 km wide bay on the southwest coast of the West Antarctic James Ross Island . It is located 5 km northwest of Cape Foster . The western boundary of the bay is the Ayekliff . To the southeast, your entrance is limited by Inoceramus Point .
It was discovered and mapped in 1903 during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld . He named it after the Swedish wholesaler John Carlsson, a sponsor of the research trip. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey re-surveyed the bay between 1952 and 1953.
