Carmen Casanova (born December 17, 1980 in Vignogn ) is a former Swiss ski racer . She mainly drove downhill and super-G .

biography

She gained her first international experience at the age of 15 at FIS races . As a 17-year-old, she started in the European Cup for the first time . However, the results were largely lacking. In 2002 and 2003 she did not contest a single international race and her career seemed to have ended prematurely. In 2004 Casanova relaunched her skiing career and again sought to join the world's best. In January 2005, she achieved two wins and a second place in Megève within four days, which was enough for her to win the downhill classification of the European Cup.

With these results she secured a firm place in the World Cup . In her first World Cup race on January 6, 2005 in the downhill from Santa Caterina , she finished 26th and won her first World Cup points. She achieved the best result of the season on January 21, 2006 in St. Moritz with 10th place in the downhill. She also reached 10th place in the first downhill of the 2006/07 season in Lake Louise . After that, however, she was no longer able to build on these achievements.

At the end of May 2009, Casanova announced her retirement from top-class sport.
