Carmina Mundi is a mixed choir that was founded in 1983 on the initiative of Harald Nickoll . Since then, a group of non-professional musicians from the Aachen region has dedicated themselves to demanding choral music - from the beginnings of polyphony to works by composers of our time. He was also in 2009 next to the Madrigal Choir of Aachen , the boys choir Aachen and the Aachen Chamber Choir founder and initiative chorus of International Chorbiennale in Aachen.

The choir mainly deals with a cappella music in order to be able to concentrate on working on a balanced sound image in a pure mood . The repertoire includes sacred and secular choral music from different countries, cultures and epochs, which is also reflected in the name (lat. Carmina mundi : songs of the world). One focus of today's work is the development of contemporary choral music.

In addition to the lively concert activity, which has already taken the choir abroad several times (including to France , Estonia , Austria , Argentina , Brazil , Sweden ), Carmina Mundi has recorded several CDs for the international market, on which mainly compositions from the 20th century can be heard.

For his tireless pursuit of a perfect choral sound, Carmina Mundi has been awarded numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including most recently 1st place at the 7th German Choir Competition (Kiel, 2006) in the category for mixed choirs with 37 or more participants.
