The Aachen Chamber Choir is a choir from Aachen , in which professional and amateur singers perform demanding sacred and secular choral music of all epochs and styles.

The choir was founded in September 1981. During its existence, the choir has given numerous concerts in the Aachen region , at home ( Cologne , Bonn , Hamburg , Berlin, etc.) and abroad ( Netherlands , Italy , France , Austria , Hungary , Egypt , Russia , Poland , the Czech Republic , Lithuania ) and made a name for itself through broadcast recordings. There is also a cooperation with the Theater Aachen . Several songs, oratorios and operas have been performed together under the overall direction of Marcus R. Bosch . The choir has been singing under the direction of Martin te Laak since the summer of 1996 .

The choir consists of around 30 choir singers, professional musicians as well as amateurs, who have set themselves the goal of cultivating demanding sacred and secular choral music of all ages and styles. His repertoire includes works from the Renaissance to the avant-garde. In the contemporary world, premieres of new music are just as much part of the program as the rehearsal of jazz and pop arrangements or folk songs. In addition to its focus of work, the occupation with a cappella choral music, the Aachen Chamber Choir occasionally also performs works of oratorical literature from the Baroque and Romantic periods.

Awards

The Aachen Chamber Choir is the winner of the international choir competitions in Spittal (Austria) and Budapest (Hungary). In 1998 he received first prize at the North Rhine-Westphalia choir competition. In 2010 the Aachen Chamber Choir was the category winner at the International Robert Schumann Choir Competition in Zwickau. He also took part in the international choir festivals in Fano (Italy) and Nice (France) and was co-founder and initiative choir of the International Chorbiennale in Aachen alongside the Aachen Madrigal Choir , the Carmina Mundi Choir and the Aachen Young Choir . Concerts with other well-known ensembles were also on the program, for example with the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet or with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marcus R. Bosch. The Aachen Chamber Choir made radio recordings with the WDR and the SFB and worked on CD productions such as the Alexanderfest (G. F. Handel, 2007) and Hohes Lied der Liebe (various composers, 2011). The choir is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC).
