Carminoir

Carminoir is a red wine variety , a new breed of Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil Switzerland from Pinot Noir with Cabernet Sauvignon from 1982.

The variety is botrytis-resistant and ripens as late as Cabernet Sauvignon, so it is only suitable for good and best locations .

With a moderate yield level and ripe grapes, strong, colorful and tannin-rich wines can be produced, the aroma of which is described as very complex. Small stocks are known in Switzerland . (9.4 hectares, as of 2007, source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG)
