Carola Lohde

Carola Lohde (born February 12, 1889 in Berlin , † 1959 in Munich ) was a German photographer and headmistress, as well as a politician and women's rights activist.

Life

Carola Lohde was a teacher in the Photography Institute of the Lette Association , where technical assistants were trained in scientific photography. From 1910 she was head of the first men's class established there, from 1917 deputy director and from 1932, after the death of director Marie Kundt, provisional director. In 1934 her career was interrupted by restructuring.

She lived with her colleague and partner Marie Kundt in Berlin until 1934. Then she lived with Thusnelda Lang-Brumann in Munich.

Carola Lohde was politically active in the DNVP . After the introduction of women's suffrage in November 1918, she was elected in January 1919 as one of the first female city councilors in Schöneberg .

She was a member of the first works council in 1918 in the Lette Association. In the professional association of technical assistants, which was founded in 1919 and registered as an association in 1921, she was involved in the wage warfare for women and the promotion of the technical assistant professions. From 1921 to 1933 she was the managing director of the association.
