Carole Ann Ford (born June 16, 1940 ) is a British actress .

Life

Ford got her first film role in 1953 in The Last Lord . In 1963 she played her most famous role to date with the Doctor's first companion in Doctor Who . She was seen a total of 52 episodes as Susan Foreman. She later explained that Doctor Who was initially just a normal acting job for her. However, she quickly realized how successful the series was. There was nothing like this on television in the 1960s. After Doctor Who it was very difficult for her to get other theater, film and television roles. In a later interview, she stated that Doctor Who destroyed her acting career as she was reduced to the role of Susan Foremann. In 1964, she left Doctor Who and initially appeared in a few plays. When she fell ill in 1977, she gave up acting. Since then she has been giving voice and presentation workshops and coaching politicians, business people and actors.
