Carole Thate

Carole Helene Antoinette Thate (born December 6, 1971 in Utrecht ) is a former Dutch hockey player .

Life

Thate played in 168 international games for the Netherlands, in which she scored forty goals. She made her sporting debut for the Netherlands on November 20, 1989 in a friendly against England.

Thate is part of the Dutch team that won the bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the bronze medal four years later at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . Thate was the captain of the Dutch hockey team for several years. She also played as a midfielder for the Dutch clubs Shinty , Schaerweyde , Kampong and Amsterdamsche H&BC . When she ended her sporting career in field hockey, Thate became director of the Dutch organization Johan Cruijff Foundation in Amsterdam.

For many years Thate lives with the Australian athlete Alyson Annan together, they in the Netherlands got married . In May 2007, with the help of a friend who made himself available as a sperm donor, a son was born to Annan, whom Annan and Thate bring up as parents under custody.
