Caroline Reinagle

Caroline Reinagle , née Orger (* 1818 in London ; † March 11, 1892 in Tiverton ) was an English composer, pianist and music teacher. Very few of her works have survived.

Life

Caroline Reinagle was born Caroline Orger in London in 1818 . In the 1840s she published and performed some of her works, including a Piano Trio (1842) and a Piano Concerto (1842), which she performed in the Hanover Square Rooms in 1843 . In 1846 she married Alexander Robert Reinagle . She died in Tiverton in 1892 .

Few of her compositions have survived, including some songs, a tarantella in E minor and a sonata (the latter two are works for piano). These two were published by Vivace Press.

In addition to her compositions, in 1854 she published a textbook entitled A few words on pianoforte playing , which was intended for her students (the subtitle was adressed to her pupils ).
