Carrocerias y Ensambles Automotrices, SA de CV is a Mexican company in the field of automobiles and former automobile manufacturers.

Company history

The Monterrey company started manufacturing automobiles in 1989. The brand name was Carrena . Six vehicles were built in 2000. The production number fell to four in the following year and to two in 2002. Three vehicles have been delivered for 2003. Vehicle production ended in 2010. The company, headed by Rodolfo Manuel Peña Pérez, continues to operate as a workshop with 15 employees.

The parent Grupo Carrena makes things out of fiberglass .

The model Tornado was based on a chassis from VW Beetle . The two-door body resembled an off-road vehicle . There was a wrong radiator grille on the front of the vehicle .

From 2004 a replica of a MG TD was also part of the range.

The Safa was similar to the VW Type 181 .
