Mastretta Cars is a Mexican automobile manufacturer. The company names Tecnosport SA de CV , Tecnoidea SA de CV and Mastrettadesign are also passed down.

Company history

The company was founded in Mexico City in 1987 . The production of automobiles began, which are marketed as Mastretta . At times the vehicles were offered by Bonsack Engineering from Lautrach in Germany . Around 1998 around five vehicles were produced per month.

The first model was based on a shortened chassis from the VW Beetle . A fiberglass body was mounted on top. The vehicle was 373 cm long. Various four - cylinder boxer engines with 45  hp or 90 hp power propelled the vehicles. Another source mentions - at least for sales to Germany - a four-cylinder engine from the VW Golf with 1,800 cc displacement and 90 hp, which was mounted in the rear. The price in Germany was around DM 35,000 in 1998 .

The Mastretta MXT followed later .
