Carsten Baker

Carsten Bäcker (* 1979 ) is a German lawyer , legal scholar and professor at the University of Bayreuth .

Life

After his studies of law at the University of Kiel 1998-2003 Baker from 2003 to 2006 as a research assistant at the city's Department of Public Law and Legal Philosophy , headed by Robert Alexy operates. From 2006 to 2008 he completed his legal clerkship . In 2007 he was awarded a dissertation by the University of Kiel with the title “ Justify and Decide. Criticism and reconstruction of Alexyschen discourse theory of law " doctorate . From 2008 to 2013, Bäcker worked again as a research assistant at the chair for public law and legal philosophy at the University of Kiel. From 2012 he also worked at the Hermann Kantorowicz Institute in Kiel for basic legal research. In 2015, he completed his habilitation with a thesis on “ Justice in the rule of law. The Federal Constitutional Court on the border of the Basic Law ”. He received the Venia Legendi (license to teach) for the subjects of public law and legal philosophy. From 2015 to 2018, Bäcker was a substitute professor at the universities of Mainz , Heidelberg and Konstanz . Bäcker has held a chair for public law at the University of Bayreuth since 2018.
