Carsten Fiedler (born December 20, 1969 in Rheinbach ) is a German journalist. Since the beginning of 2017 he has been editor-in-chief of Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger .

Life

Carsten Fiedler began his career in 1991 in the Euskirchen local editorial office of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger. From 1992 to 1994 he volunteered at the Mitteldeutscher Express in Halle / Saale. After his return to Cologne in 1994, he first worked as a town hall reporter for the Kölner Express , later as chief local reporter and finally as local department manager . In 2001 he switched to the Berliner Morgenpost as a state political correspondent ; This was followed by posts as head of department for Berlin and Brandenburg and as political correspondent for Die Welt and Berliner Morgenpost in the capital. From 2007 to 2013, he worked at the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf as the chief editor and central journalist. Since 2017 Fiedler has been editor-in-chief of Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, where he succeeded Peter Pauls . On May 1, 2020, he also took on the role of Managing Editor-in-Chief Newsroom at Medienhaus Köln and is responsible for the overall journalistic management of Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and Express. Since September 2017, both titles have been producing newspapers and digital products from a common newsroom.

Awards

In 2000, the local Express editorial team, whose department head was Carsten Fiedler at the time, received the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's special award for setting up the SoKo Express, a special editorial team that takes care of the concerns and needs of readers.

The DuMont editorial offices of Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, Express and Kölnischer Rundschau jointly received the Guardian Award of the German daily press in 2017 for reporting on the events on Cologne New Year's Eve 2015 .

The Cologne Embassy , a call from prominent citizens in response to Cologne's New Year's Eve 2015, which appeared simultaneously in five newspapers from Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf at the end of January 2016, received the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's 2016 German Local Journalist Prize.
