Carsten Quesel

Carsten Quesel (* 1961 ) is an educational sociologist and university professor .

Life

Quesel studied philosophy , sociology and political science at the universities of Münster and Osnabrück from 1980 to 1986 . In 1986 he obtained a diploma in social sciences from the University of Osnabrück. There was carried out in 1992 and promotion to Dr. phil. with the dissertation Social Emancipation. Collectivism and democracy in transition from the class to the bourgeois society in Germany .

From 1995 to 2001 Quesel worked as a research assistant in the sociology department at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education and then until 2004 as head of the national fund project for the development of political cognition at the University of Friborg . His habilitation took place in 2003 with a thesis on Education and Political Culture in England 1870–1945 at the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education.

Quesel's appointment as a professor took place at the Solothurn University of Education, where he was head of the research and development department from 2004 to 2005. Since 2006 he has held a professorship for the sociology of education at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland's newly founded college of education , where he is head of the research focus on educational organization .

Among the research areas include not only the educational sociology , the sociology of organizations and political sociology .
