Casa Editorial El Tiempo ( CEET ) is a Colombian publishing group whose main product is the daily newspaper El Tiempo , published in Bogotá . It was founded on February 1, 1956 by the former President of Colombia Eduardo Santos .

history

El Tiempo, the flagship of the publishing group, was founded on January 30, 1911 by Alfonso Villegas Restrepo and sold in 1913 to Eduardo Santos Montejo , who ran the newspaper as owner and managing director until 1976 . The publishing house owners, most of whom belonged to the Santos family, were traditionally known to be liberal.

On September 6, 1952 , the headquarters of the publishing house burned down completely. The newspaper continued to be printed without exception with the help of the El Liberal newspaper. It wasn't until 1978 that the editorial team moved to Avenida Eldorado , where the newspaper is still published today.

In 2000 , the publishing group's range was expanded to include the website elempleo.com. In 2003 , Eduardo Santos became the managing director. The former Vice President of Colombia, Francisco Santos Calderón , also comes from the publishing family, as is the current President Juan Manuel Santos .
