Caspar Korff called Schmising (* unknown; † March 26, 1645 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and canon in Münster , Minden and Hildesheim .

Life

Caspar Korff called Schmising came from the Westphalian noble family Korff , one of the oldest rural aristocratic families in the Münsterland . He was the son of Heinrich Korff called Schmising (Lord of Tatenhausen) and his wife Barbara von Fürstenberg (sister of Landdrosten Kaspar von Fürstenberg ). Caspar's sister Anna († 1618) was married to Hunold (Winold) von Plettenberg. With the receipt of the tonsure on July 24th, 1607 he was prepared for a spiritual life. On June 12, 1609 he took possession of the Münster cathedral priest of Bernhard von Westerholt . With the revoltHe was emancipated to the families Schmising, Fürstenberg, Hoberg and Westphalen on June 25, 1612. After completing his studies, he received the Low Orders on December 20, 1619 . The next day he became a sub-deacon . After the death of Canon Engelbert von Brabeck , Caspar opted for the Oblegium Brirup and on April 15, 1626 the archdeaconate Stadtlohn after the canon Hermann Nagel . The election as head foreman fell on May 12, 1629. On May 9, 1638 he was appointed assessor of the cathedral winery. Caspar gave up the archdeaconate Stadtlohn and opted for the archdeaconate Warendorf on March 18, 1643 after the death of Dietrich von Plettenberg . He also had a prebende in Minden and Hildesheim . He died on March 26, 1645 and was buried on April 5 in front of the Altar St. Andreae. Due to an electoral promise, Caspar von Ketteler asked for the free prebend on March 30, 1645.
