Johann Caspar Sichelbein (* around 1555 in Augsburg ; † February 14, 1605 in Memmingen ) was a German painter and founder of the Sichelbein family of painters .
After a stay in Kaufbeuren , Sichelbein settled in Memmingen . There he founded a five-generation painter dynasty, which was particularly active in churches and monasteries in Swabia and Switzerland .
His son, Caspar Sichelbein the Younger , was the teacher of the baroque painter Johann Heinrich Schönfeld , who lived in Memmingen for a short time.
