Caspian is an American post-rock - band , which in 2003 Beverly , Massachusetts was founded. Since 2005 they have released a total of four albums , three EPs and a 7-inch single on various independent labels .
Band history
After being founded in autumn 2003, after a long development phase, they recorded their first demo in August 2004 . They then played a small number of live shows in late 2004 and early 2005, also appearing as the opening act for Japanese post rockers Mono . Shortly thereafter, they released their debut EP, You Are The Conductor , on Dopamine Records in November 2005. This was followed in 2006 by a tour of Northeast America and a 28-date tour across the United States. The tour EP , which they released on their own, was also released for this tour . Within 2 years they played 5 USA tours, during which they were also joined by guitarist Erin Burke-Muran, who also plays with The Fly-Agaris Sky.
On April 10, 2007, their debut album The Four Trees was also released on Dopamine Records, for which they developed and recorded material together with Ethan Dussault in 2006. The album was re-released in June 2008 by the German music label Make My Day Records. To promote this album, they played a European and a US tour.
On August 9, 2009, their second studio album Tertia was released on the same label. For the subsequent tour through Europe, friends Jonny Ashburn on third guitar and Jon McMahan on electric bass were brought in, who represented Calvin Joss and Chris Friedrich, who were unable to attend due to personal reasons. Jonny Ashburn has been a permanent member of the band since the studio recordings for Waking Season and can also be seen in the first video for the title song Waking Season of the same name .
Bassist and founding member Chris Friedrich died on August 25, 2013 at the age of 33. Jani Zubkovs was found as his successor at the end of 2013.
On June 11, 2019, the band officially announced that Justin Forrest, a long-time friend, would be the new drummer. The band separated from Joe Vickers by mutual agreement. Forrest has a ten-year relationship with the band and has been on tour with the band since 2018 and also took over the post of drummer for the studio recordings in 2019.
