Castellano (dialect Castelam , German outdated Kastellein ) is a village in Trentino in Vallagarina (German: Lagertal ). Castellano is a fraction of Villa Lagarina in the province of Trento . The settlement is located on the eastern side of the Monte Stivo-Monte Bondone mountain range at 789 meters above sea level and is thus the highest place of the "Destra Adige". It is dominated by the Castellano Castle , which was owned by the Austrian Lodron family . The small Cei lake is nearby .

Castellano has 650 inhabitants (as of August 2009).

history

From 1456 to 1842 Castellano was the most important center of the Castellano and Castelnuovo dominion , which was owned by the Austrian Lodron family .

Castellano went to the Emperor Charles VI. (HRR) , Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary and also Karl I (Austria-Hungary) of Austria during the First World War .

The place was an independent municipality until 1929, then it was incorporated into Villa Lagarina .
