Castore Durante
Castore Durante (* 1529 in Gualdo Tadino ; † 1590 in Viterbo ) was an Italian doctor and botanist and personal physician to Pope Sixtus V. His Herbario novo was illustrated first by Leonardo Parasole and later by his widow Isabella and with the same woodcuts , but changed text Relaunched for over 100 years.
Honor taxon
Charles Plumier named in his honor the genre Castorea the plant family of the iron herb plants (Verbenaceae). Carl von Linné rejected the name and named the genus Duranta . Philip Miller later took up the generic name Castorea again.
