Catherine Hakim

Catherine Hakim (born May 30, 1948 ) is a British sociologist .

She is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Policy Studies and was a Senior Research Fellow (until 2003) and visiting scholar (since 2003) at the London School of Economics from 1990 to 2011 . She was Director of the ESRC Data Archive 1989–1990 and Director of Research in the Department of Employment for ten years. Her research focuses on labor market issues, women's issues and research methods. In the 1990s, Hakim developed a preference theory .

Hakim grew up in the Middle East and came to the UK when she was 16.
