Catherine Josephine Duchesnois (born June 5, 1777 in Saint-Saulve , Nord Département as Cathérine Josephine Raffin , † February 8, 1835 in Paris ) was a French actress and one of Napoleon's lovers .

She first took the stage in Valenciennes in 1795 and then turned to Paris, where she enjoyed the lessons of the actor Florence and in 1802 opened her performance as Phaedra at the Théâtre-Français , to which she belonged until 1833 (from 1804 onwards as a societaire). She died in Paris on February 8, 1835.

Duchesnois had an unusual talent for portraying tragic roles, which was supported by an impressive appearance and a pleasant, sonorous voice. Her main achievements were Semiramis , Roxane, Hermione , Maria Stuart Jeanne d'Arc among others
