Life
Samba grew up in Chad. Her father is from Cameroon and her mother from the Central African Republic. She studied law in France and was a successful business woman and corporate lawyer before moving into politics.
Political career
Samba-Panza was appointed mayor of Bangui , the capital of the Central African Republic, in March 2013 by the de facto president at the time, Michel Djotodia .
Djotodia, who declared himself president in March 2013 after a coup, resigned from office on January 10, 2014 under pressure from the CEEAC . On January 20, 2014, the interim parliament elected Samba-Panza as interim president. There were seven other candidates, including Désiré Kolingba , the son of former President André Kolingba (1981-1993), and Sylvain Patassé , son of former President Ange-Félix Patassé (1993-2003). Parliament's requirement for the applicants was that they were not allowed to have any connections to the Séléka , with whose help Djotodia came to power, or to any other rebel organization. In addition, all candidates who had held political office under Djotodia or were members of the military were excluded . Samba-Panza is supposed to lead the government until the planned new elections in February 2015. The election date was set for October 18, 2015. The election finally took place on December 30, 2015, after the runoff election on February 14, 2016, it was replaced on March 30 by former Prime Minister Faustin Archange Touadéra .
