Cathy Baron Tamraz

Cathy Baron Tamraz (born October 10, 1953 in Portland ) is an American business manager and has been the CEO of Business Wire since 2005 .

Life

Cathy Baron Tamraz studied English ( Undergraduate Degree ) and Literature ( Master Degree ) at Stony Brook University in Manhattan .

She joined Business Wire in 1979, initially working in the San Francisco office. In 1980 she opened an office in New York City for the company and in 1987 assumed responsibility for the New York State area . She has been a member of the management team since 1990, assuming the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2000 and Chief Executive Officer in 2005 .

She is credited with the key role in Berkshire Hathaway's acquisition of Business Wire in March 2006, which she proposed in a letter to Warren Buffett in November 2005 .
