In the card game , court cards are cards that, in contrast to the eye cards, represent people, but like these belong to a color . The court cards include: the jack or under , the queen or the waiter , and the king . In the tarot sheet, as it is used for example in the Austrian tarot game, there is also the cavall or caval (French cavalier ) which is placed between jack and queen.

Depending on the game, the court cards have different values, whereby in many Jass variants the jack / under has special tricks or trumps .
