Cavendish is an impact crater on the front of the moon west of Mare Humorum , northwest of de Gasparis crater, and southeast of Henry . The southwestern edge of the heavily eroded crater is covered by the Cavendish E secondary crater .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the English scientist Henry Cavendish .
