Cecil Love

Cecil Love (born February 7, 1898 in Roseland , Louisiana , † January 26, 1995 in Los Angeles County , California ) was an American film technician in the field of visual effects and special effects , who won both the Oscar for Technical Achievement Award ) and the Academy Award of Merit .

Life

Love worked for Acme Tool Manufacturing Co., where he worked as a film technician, particularly with processes in the fields of visual effects and special effects.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1945 , he was together with Linwood G. Dunn from the Acme Tool Manufacturing Co. with an Oscar for technical merit ( Technical Achievement Award honored), and that "for the design and construction of the optical printer Acme-Dunn" ( 'For the design and construction of the Acme-Dunn Optical Printer').

As a specialist in visual effects, he worked on the disaster film Airport (1970) by George Seaton with Burt Lancaster , Dean Martin and Jean Seberg .

Together with Linwood G. Dunn Love was at the Oscars in 1981 with a Oscar for special services ( Academy Award of Merit Award), namely "for the concept, design and development of the optical printer Acme-Dunn special effects in movies" (, For the concept, engineering and development of the Acme-Dunn Optical Printer for motion picture special effects').
