Cecile Jospé
Cecile Jospé , actually Cecil Weiner , (born August 15, 1928 in New Jersey , † May 17, 2004 in London ) was an English painter and photographer of American origin.
Life
Jospé studied art and art history at Radcliffe College ( Harvard University ). After graduating, she settled in New York and later moved to Brussels . There she met Roger Jospé and married him; she had three children with him.
In 1973 Jospé went to London with her family and also set up a small studio. She was later appointed to teach photography at the Polytechnic of Central London . She was also active as an artist and in 1983 - as in 1985 - was able to show an impressive exhibition of her photographs in the "Photographers' Gallery" (Great Newport Street).
In favor of painting, Jospé then abandoned photography as a means of artistic expression and was accepted as a member of the Royal Watercolor Society (RWS) in London in 2001.
Shortly before her 76th birthday Cecil Jospe died on 17 May 2004 at her cancer .
