Cefaclor is an antibiotic . It belongs to the second generation of the cephalosporins . Cefaclor is administered orally and can be used against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Side effects

  • Often allergic reactions, allergic neutropenia, phlebitis, gastrointestinal complaints
  • Occasionally increased transaminases and alkaline phosphatase, changes in the blood count, dizziness, hypertension
  • Rarely, pesudomembranous colitis
  • Very rarely lymphocytosis, leukopenia, hepatitis, cholestasis

Contraindications

Cefaclor is contraindicated in cephalosporin allergy. Because of the risk of cross allergy, the drug should be used with caution in the case of penicillin allergy.
