Ceraleptus lividus is a bug from the family of the border bugs (Coreidae).

features

The bugs are 10.0 to 11.5 millimeters long. They can be easily identified by means of their dark stripes on the sides of the head at the level of the compound eyes and by means of the pale edges of the basal corium of the hemielytras .

distribution and habitat

The species is distributed from the Mediterranean to the south of Sweden and England and east across Asia Minor and the Caucasus to Central Asia. It is widespread in Germany and mostly not uncommon, but less common in the south than in the north German lowlands. In Austria it is rarer in the east than Ceraleptus gracilicornis . Dry, sunny habitats are settled. The species needs less warmth than Ceraleptus gracilicornis . In Great Britain, the species is essentially restricted to the south and central parts of England and is only locally and rarely abundant.

Way of life

The animals live in different legume (Fabaceae), such as clover ( Trifolium ), alfalfa ( Medicago ), grass pea ( Lathyrus ) and vetch ( Vicia ). In northern Germany they are often found under Sarothamnus on sandy soils .
