The Cerastium scaposum is a species of horn herb ( Cerastium ) in the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae).

features

Cerastium scaposum is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 2 to 11 centimeters. The stem is very short and leafy. The flower stalks are 10 to 70 millimeters long. The flowers are usually arranged individually. The sepals are 4 to 5.5 millimeters long and covered with very short hair. They are shorter than the crown. The fruits are cylindrical capsules.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.

Occurrence

Cerastium scaposum is endemic to Crete . The species grows on limestone rocks and rubble, in Phrygana and in open forests at altitudes of 250 to 1700 (1900) meters.
