features

The bees are 9 to 10 millimeters long. The body of the female is colored metallic blue-green. The frontal plate ( clypeus ) and the rails ( tibia ) are spotted white on the basal side. The calli are black. The support of the propodeum is separated from the horizontal surface at the top by a protruding edge. The males are colored just like the females. The front plate bears a large, triangular spot. The labrum is black. The calli are provided with a small white spot on the rear edge. The support is delimited at the top by an upstanding edge. The seventh tergite is notched at the end. The thighs ( femora ) and tibia of the rear pair of legs are hairy of the same length.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in Spain, southern France, and Italy. The animals fly from the beginning of May to at least the end of July, but probably also into autumn. The species collects pollen from different plant families. It is not known which cuckoo bees parasitize the species .
