Ceremonial Oath was a Swedish death metal band.
history
The band was founded in early 1990 under the name Desecrator. In 1992 they recorded their debut album The Book of Truth , which was released the following year on the Modern Primitive Records label. Shortly after the album was released, singer and guitarist Oscar Dronjak and bassist Jesper Strömblad split from the band. Strömblad founded In Flames , Dronjak first Crystal Age, later Hammerfall . Guitarist Anders Iwers brought together a new line-up, with whom two promo recordings were made in quick succession, from which the second and final album Carpet , which was released in 1995 under Black Sun Records, is composed. This album, with its harsh sounds and influences from heavy and thrash metal , is considered one of the early representatives of the Gothenburg school . In 1995 the band broke up again.
