Ceremonium was a Death Doom band formed in 1992 .
history
Ceremonium were established in the fall of 1992. In the first line-up, Chris Tredici took over the role of drummer, Thomas Pioli and Brandon Diaz that of guitarist, Victor Rivera that of bassist and Oscar Matter that of singer. In spring 1993, appeared with Nightfall in Heaven over Necroharmonic Productions a first EP . A demo tape was released in the same year . Rivera soon left the band, whereupon Pioli took over the bass for the recordings of the debut album. Into the Autumn Shade was recorded in the spring of 1995 and released through Fadeless Records that same year . The album was received positively by critics and established Ceremonium as a major exponent of Death Doom. As a result, the group played at international festivals in 1995 and took part in the compilation What's for Dinner? of the label Pavement Music . In the same year Matter left the band. Diaz took over the vocals along with the guitar. Pioli returned to the guitar and Lino Reca joined Ceremonium as the new bass player. In July 1998, the band returned to recording another album. The recordings for No Longer Silent took place in the Vortex Studios . The band canceled the original release contract with Soul Sold Music due to creative differences. Pioli took the conflict as an opportunity to found his own label Destro Records. Like its predecessor, No Longer Silent was received positively by the critics. Excessive tours followed between 2000 and 2001. Reca left the group and was replaced by Brian Yost. The first recordings for a third studio album followed, which was initially released as a promotional demo to initiate a cooperation with a larger label. However, there was no major publication. In April 2004 the group disbanded due to the health condition of Diaz, who had cancer.
style
In addition to Winter , November's Doom and Evoken , the band is counted among the representatives of the American Death Doom that established the style and is compared with them accordingly. The group's early work, up to and including the debut album, is fully attributed to early American Death Doom. Later releases also show influences from the second wave of Black Metal .
