Cereus braunii is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the Bolivian agronomist Otto Braun.
description
Cereus bicolor grows tree-shaped, forms a short trunk and reaches heights of 2 to 3 meters. The green shoots have a diameter of 10 to 20 centimeters. There are four to five thin, around the round to elliptical, brownish areoles extended ribs with a height of 5 to 6 centimeters. The five to six radiating, white thorns are needle-like and have a brown tip. They have a length of 3 to 40 millimeters.
The white flowers are up to 20 centimeters long. Nothing is known about the fruit .
Distribution and systematics
Cereus braunii is common in the lowlands of the Bolivian departments of Beni and La Paz . The first description was published in 1956 by Martín Cárdenas .
