Cereus repandus is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Spanish common names are "Cadushi" and "Kadushi".
description
Cereus repandus grows tree-shaped, is usually richly branched and reaches heights of growth of up to 10 meters. Often a clear trunk is formed. The cylindrical, gray-green, upright or slightly curved, segmented shoots have a diameter of 10 to 20 centimeters. There are nine to ten rounded ribs that are up to 1 centimeter high. The small areoles on it are far apart. The gray, needle-like thorns are very variable. They are often numerous, but they can also be completely absent. The longest thorns are up to 2 inches long.
The white flowers are 12 to 15 inches long. Their bracts have reddish tips. The spherical to elongated red fruits have a length of up to 4 centimeters. They contain a white pulp .

The fruits and the shoots are edible. Planted together, the species is used as a "living fence". Firewood is made from the wood of the shoots. It is also used to make furniture. Cut shoots are used as a soap substitute.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Cereus repandus is common in the western Caribbean and Venezuela .
The first description as Cactus repandus was published in 1753 by Carl von Linné in his work Species Plantarum . Philip Miller placed them in the genus Cereus in 1768 . Synonyms include Cactus peruvianus L. (1753) and Cereus peruvianus (L.) Mill. (1768).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
